Current Information:Age-20 Born-Montreal Enlisted-Kingston Vermelles British Cemetery, France 13th East Surrey arrived in France on 4th June, 1916 as part of 120 Brigade, 40th Division. For the next ten days they were training at Lillers before moving to Sailly-Labourse on 16th June for trench warfare instruction with 44 Brigade of 15th Division in the nearby Hulluch and Hohenzollern Redoubt sectors of the front line. On 26th June, 1916, Hubert Atwood was killed in action while under instruction in these trenches. |
